It’s no secret that I love minimal style. I’m forever fighting against keeping un-loved items around the home and always aiming for the perfect minimalist Pinterest-esque look. I simply can’t meet myself half way with my natural hoarding ways.
When Furniture Village released their SS16 Lookbook, I couldn’t help but want to incorporate some of the minimalist style into my home. Their Iconic Style utilises an off-white canvas, allowing the furniture to become the real focal point. Minimalistic décor has been massive over the past few years. But, whenever I’m trying to create something so simple in my own home, I often find it’s missing something. Furniture Village managed to create the perfect modern twist adding mismatched pieces and opposing colours. I love the use of light grey and black. But the pops of lime green give it a much-needed contemporary update. I thought I’d share a few tips on how to create the Iconic Style in your own home.
Switch it up with Natural wood
We own a lot of white furniture. But, over the last few months we’ve been swapping and changing everything around to add in a few natural wood pieces. I love the look of un-polished wood and pairing it against sharp colours such as lime green, black or white will create the perfect modern transition.
I use to strive to have furniture in each room of our home matching. But, I’m now fighting against the choices I already made to add a bit of dimension to each room. I now love pairing accessories which you wouldn’t normally thinking of placing together.
I’ve often shied away from dark colours., opting for deep greys instead. But, we now have a few black furniture pieces and chose matt black legs for our dining table. So, I’ve really grown to the idea of adding such a dark colour into our home.
Anyone else finding they are now adding plenty of colour into their minimilist decor style?
