This pregnancy has gone by a lot quicker than when I was pregnant with Lily – which is fabulous! We’ve had plenty of appointments and some positive growth-scans. Our little one is growing at a perfect weight too! With our extra scans, we were lucky to find out that my placenta was now no-longer covering my cervix. I was a little nervous at the thought of complications of this, (especially as we’ve had some bleeds again). But, I feel extremely grateful that it’s moved out the way and in plenty of time. It’s still pretty low but that was the same with my last pregnancy.
At our 20 week scan we found out the gender of our little one (it’s a boy!) so we’ve been excitedly buying all the clothes and toys. We’ve kept quite a lot of Lily’s baby stuff so it’s been nice not having to make all of the large purchases this time.
We’ve been having regular growth-scans which have been really surreal being able to see the baby at this stage of our pregnancy. As well as the placenta, we had a couple of other abnormalities found on the scans but they’ve also all resolved. The baby is measuring great and is growing in line with how it should be, just on the small side. I think I just grow little babies!
How I’ve Been Feeling
Around 20 weeks was when my sickness pretty much left – hooray! I’ve been suffering a bit with Braxton Hicks which have now intensified into the third trimester. But, apart from that my Second Trimester was pretty plain sailing from niggles and pains.
My bump has grown tons this time. Apparently you’re more likely to ‘pop’ on subsequent pregnancies as your body has already done it all before. I’m carrying this baby a lot different to Lily. She was well hidden towards my back, whereas I feel like I’m ALL baby this time.
Exhaustion has been very real! I’ve been going along with the idea of when Lily naps, I nap. Sometimes this works out and other times not… I’ve definitely become a lot stricter with Lily’s naps as I find if she’s sticking to her normal schedule, she’s much less of a handful and I can flake out when it’s her bedtime instead.
I’ve been feeling plenty of movement and kicks. It’s definitely now in a pattern throughout the day.
I’ve got plenty more midwife and consultant appointments and we’ve now put a plan into place for the likelihood of having Strep-B again. We’re going with multiple testing. But, I’m still a little apprehensive about how quick labour might be this time. We’re a good half an hour away from the hospital. So I’m hoping we won’t be rushing in, in rush hour traffic.
What I’m looking forward to…
We’ve got loads to sort for the Nursery and I’m looking forward to feeling a lot more organised as I had hoped to be pretty prepared for the baby’s arrival by now. But.. who we kidding?!
