I can’t believe I’m talking about the “C” word, but there’s already mince pies in my house and Bublé has already been blasting out. So the countdown is on!
Christmas has got to be my most favourite time of the year. I think it stems from having the most magical Christmases as a child. I just love how cosy the Christmas period is. I get so excited (even at 24!) with the lead up to the big day. The past few Christmases haven’t quite been the same, since losing a few close family members just before Christmas for the past four years. But, this makes me want to focus even more on Christmas traditions and make the most out of what haven’t been the happiest times. We’ve also sadly recently lost my Gran; who was always a massive part of our family traditions. So, I’m determined to focus on making new memories as well as continuing our family traditions.
This is our most recent obsession for Christmas Eve. Chris loves it and Lily rocked her co-ordinating onesie last year; she looked like she enjoyed it too! So, I can’t wait to see what matching pyjamas we can get hold of for this year. I’ve been loving these M&S Striped Long Sleeve Pyjamas. They’re super soft and make me feel extra cosy in the evening – which is a massive essential for Christmas pyjamas! M&S have some great Christmas pyjamas this year.
There is no time for cooking on Christmas Eve for us. We host Christmas dinner, so I like to see it as an excuse to be lazy before I have to attempt to cook all the trimmings the next day.
Fresh Cosy Bedding
I was such a un-tidy child (I called it organised clutter), but I loved tidying my room and putting fresh sheets on my bed on Christmas Eve. I always try to give myself a little pamper too. Anything to help speed up the day.
No matter how early I try and start to wrap the presents, I’m always up till past midnight finishing them. I love wrapping, so it’s no problem. It gives me time to squeeze in a few more Christmas films to savor the moment.
I can’t wait to create more Christmas traditions for our little family. Lily is a lot more aware of everything happening around her this year. So, we’ll definitely be starting a few more festive traditions this year.
What are you family’s Christmas Eve traditions?
The pyjamas were kindly gifted to me for the purpose of this post
